Yesterday we took a trip to the local pet shop to get some koi for the pond out front, and to find a few playmates for the Albino frog that the the boys got from our Pastor's daughter recently. "Ali" as we call it (we're fairly certain it's a female) seemed lonely in the tank all by herself, so we thought we'd buy a couple of fish to keep her company. It took awhile to decide which kind of koi to buy, but finally we made our choice and the lady scooped them up for us. Same with Ali's playmates - a pair of fish the boys promptly named Boris & Vova after our Russian friends. While we were in line to cash out Skip noticed a display of fancy dog cookies and asked if he could buy one for Sabaka. Of course you can't tell one child he gets to decide which cookie, so I figured we'd spring for two - a bargain at .25 cents each. Skip promptly chose his, and Harry followed with his choice. I reached into the bins and retrieved their choices, handing them to the boys to give to the cashier. Within a millisecond Harry had taken a bite and was well on his way to shoving the rest of it in when I grabbed it from him and instructed him to spit out (into my hand of course - lucky me) what he was already chomping on. He complied. I then turned to the woman and asked, rhetorically, now many customers did that in a week. I was surprised when she told us that ALOT of people do, and that she had tried them herself. I must have been making a really disgusting face because seemed compelled to explain that they're really just dietetic cookies you buy at the supermarket. Wish I had known that before I had this wad of chewed up cookie in my hand...
