War Wounds & Dr. Visits...

My poor little boy has his brother beat - by months! Yep, it tooks Skip 7 months of life in the USA before he put a hole in his head (that required superglue in lieu of 6 stitches at the emergency room), and it took Harry only 2 weeks, exactly. Harry, however didn't need stitches, but he does has a gouge in his forehead, in almost the EXACT spot where Skip's forehead hit the corner of our coffee table.

Both boys were out back playing and I was my (as opposed to Mike's - he has his own because he's messy and I'm not!) shed (err, " private gym") watching them while I did my 30 minutes on the elliptical. The snow has long melted and now instead of slidding down the hill, they ride plastic kid-powered cars to go down. Except today they were pushing the cars, running behind them as fast as they could. Harry went too fast and ending up kissing the ground. Put a little hole - likely from a rock, in his forehead, scraped his nose & chin, and keeps saying "buena" (hurts) while pointin got his pinkie. We washed out his head (that sounded weird) then put a bandaid on it. Later he asked for a bandaid for his finger so I put one there too. He's a trouper though!

As for the doctor - he had his visit visit with the pediatrician today. She said he appears to being great, but will do some routine blood work in a week to check for things like lead levels. As for his distaste for milk, she said to give him multivitamins with calcium, keep giving him all the yogurt he wants (which he loves) as well as cheese products. We go back to her in a few weeks so she can review the blood test results, and see what progress he's made. She WAS impressed by his English & his apparent understanding of most everything we said to him.

He weighed in at 38 lbs (with clothes) so that's at least a pound he's gained just since being home, and he's 41" tall. He's grown 1/2" too! So far so good!

  1. Oh, poor Harry. Did you get to shower him with ugs and keeses? Glad things went well at the pediatrician, how did he do during the exam and having blood drawn? So happy to hear he's grown in the 2 weeks he has been home! Awesome! =)
