and the disjointed ramblings of a madwoman....
Four days - four days till we leave and this entire house is still on the rollercoaster. Thing is though it feels more like a merry-go-round. One that doesn't stop and goes just fast enough to make your entire world a blur. We move day to day like zombies, checking off items on our list of stuff we HAVE to do before we leave; eating, sleeping & breathing these things. We are up by 7, and don't go to sleep before 100. I look at the clock at it's 9:00 a.m, next thing I know it's 2:30 and I haven't eaten a thing all day. Best diet I've ever been on!

Yesterday at 8 p.m I realized Skip hadn't had dinner! Of course he had every snack imaginable since lunch, and was by no means starving when I reminded him we hadn't eaten yet and asked him what he felt like having. He was munching on a bag of "Fruit Loops to go" when I this happened and said he wasn't hungry.... I did force a glass of milk on him, stuff like this doesn't mesh with the picture perfect family we are - according to the latest version of our Adoption Homestudy that is.

It's just crazy. We're not talking normal travel preparations, we're talking about gettting every document that the judge could possibly ask for in court, then notarizing them, then bringing them to be apostilled at the Secretary of States office. This week, since our lawyer said she couldn't use her usual Russian translator to get all our documents translated before we had to leave we had to come up this crazy assembly line: We simeaultaneously email the documents to our friend in Russia, and the originals to our lawyer in Florida. Friend in Russia translates, then emails back to us. We then email them to FL. The legalese is fixed up, then final copies are printed and attached to the originals. The originals then (IT HAD BETTER BE TODAY OR I'M GOING TO HAVE A REAL MELTDOWN) will be overnighted back to us. It has to be today because we simply cannot risk a Saturday delivery.

I've asked the green beans and tomatoes to stop growing. I simply haven't the time to pick them and I hate waste. They didnt' listen

I haven't vacuumed my house in a week! I can't remember ever going 3 or 4 days without vacuuming, let alone a week. A week with a messy kid and a messy husband (I love you honey but we both now you failed neatness at the Coast Guard Academy) and a dog!

Skip started with a cold a few days ago (probably because I've been such a bad mommy) and I have had a migraine for two days. I've also started with a cold today. The only one not sick is Mike, but then again, he generally is the one who gets sick AFTER we get to Russia. He always eats something he shouldn't - like lots of fruit - then gets a stomach virus...

I got 4" cut off my head this week. FOUR INCHES! How crazy is that? How crazy has my summer been that I've not had it cut sooner? Four inches and it's back to NORMAL! The boys are going for haircuts today. They won't have 4" cut off, but both need it badly.

Our visas just arrived and look fine. The Lord, as always came through for us! Truly!

Skip is clearly feeling the fallout. He is tired, cranky, pushing limits and misses our attention. I keep telling myself just a few more days of this crap and things will be normal. Well as normal as leaving home with one child, flying 13 time zones away, living there 3 weeks, pleading our case before a Goliath of a Judge in an Irkutsk Courthouse, flying to Moscow and spending 5 days there, then returning home in a month with two kids (Lord, please let this be the case!) can be...

My husband rocks!
Seriously - did you post this at 5am?
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine what you are going through! I wish I lived closer so I could help you do something...run errands or something. Are you taking a laptop with you to Russia?
I guess it's 3 days now! If I don't get back on here before you leave, I wish you lots and lots of luck, safety, and all the good wishes I can possibly send your way. You'll all be in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteHey at least he got milk with those Fruit Loops. :) And don't worry about the vaccuming...it can wait, even though I imagine it's driving you nuts. You are doing a good job!!!
Thinking of your oh so much and doing lots of prayers!!
ReplyDeleteWow, reading all of that just floods me with all sorts of emotions!! It's almost time!!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots!!
