Russian Drive-ins...

We went to begin our medicals here in Russia. We aready did them in the USA, cost an arm & leg, and they meet the requirements, but Judge seems to be able to make her own rules. So, off to see 7 more doctors.

Took us all day, and we're not quite done. Wanna know what it cost?

Let's see:

2 X-rays (one for me, one for Mike) 120 rubles

3 dermatologists exams 450 rubles.

4 other specialists, free

Total 570 rubles... which equals about $23.00!

4 of the doctors were Drive-ins. Meaning, we drive there, we go in, they stamp our form!

The X-rays was all one Dr. required, and the same with the blood work. It's a crock, but we're not complaining. Just going through the motions here...

Skip is confused. Spent all day yesterday with Irina's daughter, Ksusha. She just turned 15. Very sweet girl - alot like her mother. But it was a long day for Skip, in this strange place. He's taken to watching RUssian cartoons on TV. Today he watched a dubbed version of Disney Princessess...I'm not sure which is more unnerving, the fact that he's watching Disney Princessess, or that he's as addicted to Russian TV, than to US TV. When he's not watching the princesses, he's bathing. At least 2x a day. He loves bath normally, but with us scrambling again to meet the judges demands, he's had to find ways to occupy himself, so.... He's the cleanest kid around, that's for sure.

We haven't seen Harry in two days. Yesterday court, and Dr. merry-go-round today. I miss him so much. Tomorrow we have to take Skip for his medicals, and finish ours. We hope to be done in time to see him. This is all just so hard to put into perspective. We should be together by now...

Thanks to everyone for the emails, and comments here. I don't get to comment much, or answer email like I'd like, but anyone who has spent time in Russia knows the difficulties with dial-up computer lines. It's difficult at best...

  1. Well I'm addicted to checking your blog for updates so keep posting! LOL

You got off cheaper on meds than we did when we did them that one time - I think we did it all for under $300/person which was reasonable for what we had done -- ultrasounds, EKGs, TB chest Xrays come to mind... Anyway keep pressing on!

I'm wondering, if Skip wouldn't have been along what would she say about the medical for him? I'm just thinking ahead and not necessarily liking what I'm thinking! But I'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

You must have gotten some sleep - you are sounding like yourself again!

I also am hoping your the dot in Russian on the map on my blog! :)

    Continuing to pray for resolutions...

  3. Debbie,
The judge never specifically said anything about whose medicals should be redone, just that "they"' didn't have the proper seal, and that they weren't signed by the head of the clinic, therefore unacceptable. We are thus redoing ALL of them. I would imagine this will be the same for you, so it sounds like JJ will HAVE to come. Get them done when you get here, BEFORE court!

I've slept out of exhaustion - though not feeling my own self. For the first time I'm bitter, at what this cold, emotionless person is putting us through... While our resolve remains solid, we are like robots, doing what is demanded, with little joy. I pray that God will just see me through, and I struggle to regain the drive I need.
