Careful what you ask for…

This morning we needed to go to Irkutsk to get a Power of Attorney notarized since Mike is leaving tomorrow (Tuesday) for home. Plus we needed to go to the courthouse to pick up our Court Definition. We were talking about how we wouldn’t be able to get Harry til around noon, when Skip piped in that he and Levi could go get him. The boys are having so much fun together, that Skip didn’t want to have to wait til we returned. Levi agreed, so we let the BH know, and we had it all planned. Levi said he had no problems taking both boys on the trolley, and we were able to get all our stuff done, so all in all, the morning was productive. We got back around 11:30, and while I got lunch ready, Mike played with the boys. They are very much into their “superhero” mode, and again “flew’ around the apt., fighting evil and causing their usual mayhem. The capes they were using were small blankets that constantly were coming undone, so I whipped together two quick substitutes. One using an old shirt of Mike’s that we were going to donate here when our trip was over, and the other I made from a small fleece blanket left over from our previous trips. They weren’t perfect, but they were much better (and shorter – thus no tripping) than the blankets they’ve been using. At one point Mike got into the action and took Harry’s cape while he was in the bathroom. Luckily I had my camera near me, so I managed to capture the moment: After lunch and naps – aka lying down watching cartoons for 1 hour – Mike made them popcorn again. Harry decided he needed a drink and said “juice”. Since we had the video camera near the laptop, I decided to get his “speech” on film. After I turned the camera on, Mike asked him what he wanted. “Jutz” he replied. Wanting him to say “please”, Mike said, “Juice what”…to which he replied “Jutz what”… It was hysterical!

The afternoon flew by and for the last time in awhile Mike, Skip & I took Harry back to the BH together. I know Mike hates to leave, but, he does have to return to work. Before we left Harry at the BH, I had Harry repeat, one word at a time, “I – will-miss-you-THIS-much” then he gave his Poppa a huge hug and several kisses.

And so tonite, we packed Mike’s bags, and had our last meal together here in Russia, for awhile… Skip made him promise to wake him up before he leaves in the a.m., which was cute. Before he went to sleep he again reminded Mike to wake him. He leaves at 5:20, so we should really be in bed by now, so I think I’ll upload pictures in the morning. Please pray for a safe flight from Mike…I am going to miss him “THIS MUCH” (use your imagination!)

  1. For some reason, your post made me tear up...just the idea that I would be there, and Marty would be leaving makes me get all emotional. I'll be thinking and praying for your family. It will all work out! It has to!

p.s. if you talk to Alex, can you ask him if he has had a chance to take the gift to Anya? Thanks!

  2. That is going to be hard. I wish it weren't this way.
