The exercise machines at the Baby Home...too cute for words!
By the time Irina returned for us, we were all exhausted – truly. Harry gave us hugs and kisses, and posed for pictures with us. He is still a bit standoffish when it comes to physical contact, but he gets better each day. We’re letting him set the pace…
From there we went to more doctor re-visits, and then went to Irkutsk to meet with the attorney. She has been before the judge before, so I am comforted by that! We were there about an hour or so, and she told us how to notify the court that she will represent us. She also helped us word the request to the Human Rights Advocate, for him to attend the hearing. She did say it was up to the Judge as to whether or not he could sit in the court room, but just asking to be there, I think, carries SOME weight… She looked over the letter that is on it’s way from the MA EEC, and said it is good. She said she would have added one thing, but it’s too late for that, and isn’t something we can’t overcome.
More doctors after the attorney, and finally we returned to the apt. around 5. Long, long days. Very tiring, physically and emotionally. I began to feel like I was getting a cold yesterday, so I went to be very early. I am FINALLY on Angarsk time, so, going to sleep at 9, and sleeping all night felt great.
Today we returned to the BH and visited again with Harry, and yes, Igor. He’s so darned cute, but so doesn’t listen! Like Harry, Igor is slow to allow physical contact, but is happy to be in our presence. He of course calls us Momma & Poppa, as do all the kids in their group. I think they think it’s a generic title for women and men who don’t work at the Baby Home, but show up occasionally bearing gifts. Thankfully, he was not wearing the hideous hat. I mentioned that to Mike as we waited for the two boys to get ready to join us in the play room, and as we laughed about it, a little girl, wearing the same hat, walked past the doorway calling “Vitalia”. I was convinced she was giving Harry the hat, but, she didn’t. He appeared without the hat, but with a big smile. He was very excited and was telling the caregivers Momma, Poppa, “dvi egrite” (let’s go play). We’re making progress…slow but sure!

Part 3 coming soon.
I can't tell you how happy I am that you have a lawyer. Is it Natalia?
ReplyDeleteYes, I was so anxious about the lawyer situation. I will also ask for someone from the Human Rights Organization to be avaialble for our hearing (whenever that might be!).
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures and your blog. Are you going to a computer lab? How are you accessing a computer?
Hope you aren't catching a cold...just something else for you to deal with.
