Adoption has a way

of bringing people together, and when you're adopting from THIS region - Irkutsk - families form a REALLY special bond! Over the past 5 years we have met some incredible families who were/are adopting from this same region, and I want to tell y'all about two in particular today.

Today, 19 days after their court hearing, they FINALLY brought home (to their Irkutsk apartmen) their son, Nathan Genya:
3/4 of the Ninmann family: Debbie, Brian & Nathan

As you might imagine, they are just thrilled to have him with them, and can't wait to return home to reunite with their oldest son J.J. who is 9. We were strangers 5 years ago, and now both of us ended up here at the same time, celebrating each other's successful adoptions!
The other family we met just recently. They are Lisa & Darren. They too are waiting for their son, "V". Until a very short time ago, they were feelin' isolated, not knowing any other families enduring the same excruciating wait. Once they found out about our Yahoo Support Group, they realized they are not alone. They have two small boys at home - Aidan who is 5, and Asher who is 2. They've been incredibly supportive of the other adoptive families, and today they posted these pictures of their family celebrating the Holmes & Ninmann Families:

Check out their blogs when a chance and leave them a comment if you don't mind. I'm sure they'd love to hear from you! I know we all love hearing from everyone!

  1. It's going to be the begininng of better times for these families who have been waiting for so long with no progress in their court cases, and it's definitely going to be wonderful for us and the N families whose long fights were rewarded.

If there's a positive effect to the former judge's unwillingness to initially hear these cases, it's the strong bond and friendships created between these families who had been waiting, and now that these cases which had been stagnantfor so long are movning forward, what a wonderful thing it will be for so many children, and the loving families awaiting them with open arms

  2. It's the Refiner's fire... It burns a lot of the crud out of us and melts our hearts together with those in the same crucible.
