Before setting out on our sledding adventure today we had to try and locate another little plastic sled. Yesterday we took the sleds with us when we went to the book/office supply/craft store and left them there by mistake. At less than $2.00 each, it wasn't worth taking a then tired & cranky Harry back to the store, so we chalked it up to experience, but the I remembered the extra sleds we bought went home with Mike, except for one. So, we hit the closest "mall" - not really a mall, just a building that houses 7 or 8 tiny stores. The one with toys didn't have sleds., of course, so we went to the supermarket, but they didn't have any either. Finally we walked to the bigger "mall" at the intersection where our road meets the long, main road. We quickly found one for 55 rubles at the toy store. At today's exchange rate - which is up to 36 rubles to the USD - it cost about $1.50. And so we headed back to the playground so they could run around for awhile.
It was warmer than it has been, about -20c with little wind, so being outdoors today didn't take as many layers. As you can see from the pictures, the kids are getting somewhat daring. Skip has been watching the older kids slide down on their knees, and decided to try that, and then they were going down tandem. Yesterday they were lying on top of each other, head first, as they went down, but both of them ended up getting squished, so they abandoned that move today...
After sledding, of course, we stopped at the corner supermarket for our daily ice cream, and then got back to the apt. by around 5. It took the boy awhile to sleep tonite, but now that they are, I'm heading there too. Morning and the adventures here will be begin again as soon as the boys open their little eyes, so I'm taking whatever "me" time I can get!

Hi, Judy, Skip, and Harry!
ReplyDeleteWe continue to pray for all of you daily! Thank you for all the work you have done to share your adventures with all of us. We feel like we are able to be a part of your lives even though you are so far away! Trisha loves to see the pictures of Skip and Harry. It helps us feel like we already somewhat know Harry. We are excited to meet him and look forward to visiting with you and Skip again soon! We saw Mike Sunday night and we were encouraged by his positive attitude and trust in God's help for the situation with his job and Harry's adjustment to your family. Praise God for all He has done and for daily help and strength! See you soon!
Well, it's good you were able to find more of the sleds, you can't beat the price either, definite bargain... Yes Skip did look to enjoy the tandem slide a little more, last time, when Harry was on top, Skip looked to be having fun, but looked a little squished..... you can tell the both of them really have fun on the slides and stuff.... my question is: What will it take to post a picture of you going down the little slide? Skip takes good pictures, or Irina could go snap the photo.... i'm just sayin.... :)
ReplyDeleteWHich stores did you end up finding it at? The one that had the supermarket/toy store/furniture place, or the ones that I went to that one day about a 10 minute walk away where I ended up trying to come back by trolley, last trip, and ended up lost, and on an hour long unwanted tour that took me to the middle of nowhere and back?
ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you all are enjoying following along on our journey! Tomorrow is day 10, which means the judge will finally sign the court decree, and the mail a copy to the "Registry". Once received we can get his new birth & adoption certificates, and then apply for his passport to travel home. I'm hoping to have a better timeline by midweek next! Thanks for the continued prayers. We truly felt them, especially when we went to court! Please tell everyone who hasn't been ablt to access the blog, that we send our best wishes, and hope to see everyone soon!
Levi,
ReplyDeleteNeither place. It the building that is at the corner where the trolley either goes left or right, when returning from the Baby Home. The corner where the trolley makes its first turn (right) if going TO the baby home. It's set back, and has smaller shops in the front, and lots of vendors who set up shop in between the small shops, and the building I'm referring to.
They look like they are just having a blast together.
