He's using more and more English, and understands 90% of what we tell him (somehow). He just loves the dog, and surprisingly, Sabaka has not barked at him once. See, Sabaka, all 12 pounds of him, thinks he's the protector here, and normally barks at ANYONE he hasn't seen before. With Harry, it's as if he knew he was coming. He licked his face the first time he saw him, and they're best buddies already!
He thoroughly enjoyed his Spaghettio's for lunch yesterday, and our first dinner at home was an American Classic - Chinese take-out! Harry ate sweet & sour chicken, fries, fried rice & white rice. He passed on the chow mein & egg foo yong, but that's fine - we'll ease him into it!
Today he's doing his movie star imitation - walking around the house with dark shades on, and is quite comical. He loves the freedom to play outside without the event being a major production. He does however not like to come back in, but we're working on controlling his outbursts over it.
Yesterday it was warm (50ish) so I didn't even bother with ski pants obviously, but today its in the 30's and suggested them to him. He resonded, "No, no, no". He's acclimating! Right now Mike is replacing our mailbox, so both boys are out in the driveway with him. Harry insisted on the shades, which of course inspired Skip to wear his. Let me tell you - they are a sight!
Watching them play together like they are makes the past 4-year-struggle bearable (well...almost!)

In a word: JOY!!!!! It's so exciting and encouraging to see how well they're doing together. Let's hope all of our kids adjust as well as Harry seems to be doing!
ReplyDeletelooks like things are going well.
ReplyDeleteWow--- I can't even put in words how happy I am for you for this moment. I am hoping that your hard work and persistence help pave the way for more children to come home. What an emotional and rewarding journey...
ReplyDeleteOne more thing, however... you are going to have to keep blogging as I am addicted to checking the blog daily. I would bet the Skip and Harry antics will provide a plethora of storylines for you. Welcome back! Maybe someday we will even meet in person. :)
It's it remarkable how they do understand what we tell them so much of the time? God's blessing to us for sure! I love seeing Harry with his "real dog"! Did you haul that toy street scene back from Angarsk or is it a different one??
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask - are you going back to your other website soon or staying with this one?
So happy to hear how things are going...
Debbie,
ReplyDeleteThe Fisher Price Main Street stayed in Russia - this is a different one! As for the blog,
I'm going to go back to the old one...or start a new one - not sure...but I won't use this one much longer - gonna keep it "Harry's"
What great pictures...AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
