First Stop, Filatov Clinic. We left the apartment at 7:30 and took the subway to get to the Filatov Clinic where Harry had his medical exam for US Embassy clearance. The We didn't have an appointment, but they took us pretty quickly. It was the same clinic we took Skip to 4.5 years ago, and the same doctor - and when he asked Harry his name (in Russian) Harry didn't miss a beat, saying "Harry Oscar". We were out of there by about 10:00 and let the boys play for a few minutes on the playground equipment right outside the building. From there we walked to the U.S. Embassy in order to submit our paperwork for his Entry Visa to the United States. Mark Seibel, Chief of the Immigrant Visa Unit met us personally and had his staff assistant, Yelizaveta handle all our paperwork. He assigned it high priority, and told us he'd get us our interview today as well! How cool?
While we were giving our paperwork to Yelizaveta, Mark even walked the boys down to the playroom filled with toys, and kept an eye on them until we were done. Now THAT'S what I call service! After the data was entered into the system, Mark & Yelizaveta took us next door to a pretty upscale mall where we had lunch at a VERY nice Italian Restaurant. It even had a play corner with lots of toys for the boys to occupy themselves while we waited for our food. After lunch we returned to the Embassy and Mark himself conducted our interview! Shortly thereafter, another staff member handed us Harry's visa. Done. Finished. Coming home! Finally!
Harry with passport, open to the page that FINALLY contains his Visa to go HOME!
We have the day to ourselves tomorrow so we'll shop for souveniers on Arabat, have lunch at either My-My's or the Hard Rock, MAYBE hire a driver to bring us to St. Basil's for a picture, rest up a bit, then go out for our final dinner here in Moscow. And Thursday is the day we have dreamt about for far too long...the day we leave and arrive home with BOTH our little boys!
Our apartment in the Arbat Central (ours in the first floor left rear window)
Enjoying the Clinic playground.
"Harry tired. Carry you, Poppa"

Aidan: "Mommy are you crying because you miss V again?"
ReplyDeleteMe: "No Aidan, I'm crying cause I'm so happy for Harry and his mommy and daddy and brother, cause they finally get to go home. Isn't that wonderful!?"
Aidan: "Yep. And now they will play superheros!"
LOL, leave it to a child to change the mood. So incredibly happy for you all! I can't imagine the emotions you are going through. YAY!!! You are going home!!! ALL OF YOU, are going home!!!
Cool to hear about Mark, we were told way back when it was pointless to contact him, so we never did... Regret it now. Sounds like he was a big help! Awesome!!!
Congratulations to you all! Couldn't be happier!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm also a fan of starbucks, actually my coffee pot decided to break on me this morning, and so as soon as Asher gets up from nap, I will be heading to starbucks! Anyhow, loved that picture (along with the rest of them) I'll tuck that away in my memory for the day we're in Moscow... hopefully.
ReplyDeleteAlso.. just got today's post up... for your reading pleasure, or not... but it'll give you something to do ;)
How wonderful!! We can't wait to see you guys again and meet Harry. Let us know once you have a time.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that things went so smoothly for you at the embassy, i'm sure considering you went without an appointement, that the ease which you got it all done must have been a nice surprise.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of Harry on the table at the clinic made me think... they must know that he likes to try to pull cords.... so they put a toy there that was made to be pulled....
All the pictures are so nice.... great scenery, my favorit probably is the one of you and the boys in front of the Gold bldg.
I am so happy, overjoyed, excited etc..you all look happy and I love the pictures of the buildings and the expressions on the kids faces. Please kiss Harry for me and tell him I will meet him in a couple of months. Remember we all have a special date July 19, 2009 for a barbeque and some loud fireworks...a celebration!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are so excited for all of you! We'll continue to pray for all of you as you travel home!
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at the "Hold you, Papa". Anicka said that, too, for the longest time. "Mama hold you? Papa hold you?" Precious... :-)
