As you might imagine, I get more than a bit stir-crazy here, especially with Mike gone. All day my conversations consist of "Don't touch please" "Did you wipe" "Lunch is ready" "Do you want to help me clean up", etc. etc. etc. Other than brief conversations with home in the evenings and mornings, as well as calls from Irina each nite to check up and catch up, there is NOBODY to talk to! I crave adult, stimulating, conversation, and it's its absence, I read, and re-read emails & blog comments - it's the next best thing to real talking! Anyway, last night after the boys were in bed, I was doing just that, re-reading blog comments. Skip got up to go to the bathroom and asked what I was doing. When I told him, he was sorta surprised to hear about all the people who had been leaving comments. "Wow! ALL those people know we're here and adopting Harry" was his actual inital response. I read some of the comments for him, and he got the BIGGEST kick out of it! He had tons of questions. How do they know we put new pictures on the blog? Do they leave email (he refers to the them as email)every day. Do you read it every day. How come Grammy doesn't leave email? Oh yeah, she doesn't have a computer yet! etc.
This morning he was very excited about checking the blog for "email" so before school we went on the computer and read them. I've created a monster! But, maybe he just is missing the "normal" life he has back home and the blog will help fill that void.
And so, COMMENT PLEASE! We love reading 'em, and feel close to home!

it's funny, with you guys there, I find myself doing the same thing, i read the blog entries and respones, and at times read them again, every morning when I wake up I come to see the blog and comments, then call there
ReplyDeleteand since Gram doesn't have e-mail i can comment for her what she told me today......
ReplyDeleteShe is very proud of Skip for being a good boy and a good big brother, she really likes talking to him
She is very impressed with Harry's learning of english, and finds the way he talks very cute
She LOVES talking to mom on the phone and hearing about everything, she says hearing Mom so happy makes her very very happy, and looks forward to talking to her everyday, and asks me everyday how many days until they come home, she can't wait
Oh and Cindy had been telling some Russian guys that she works with about the adoption, they are so excited that it is finalized, and based on what they have heard, say that Harry is SO incredibly lucky to have the mother he has and family, and lucky to be able to come home and be with his biological brother.... they are totally blown away
ReplyDeleteI will confirm that the comments left are some of the things that makes these days go faster -- knowing others care! The internet is a wonderful thing but comments from friends and family are the BEST!!!
ReplyDeleteSave Judy's sanity (LOL), leave comments!!!
Hi Judy was just wondering when you and the boys will be coming home to the good old USA. I can't believe that all the hurdles are over. I go on your blog everyday to check in, sometimes I leave a comment and sometimes I don't BUT I think of you all everyday. I went snorkeling today and thought of the b.oys. Tell Skip I swam with a turtle, manta ray, blow fish..HOOTIE and saw a large starfish. It was so cool...
ReplyDeleteYep - those comments are like gold, aren't they!? I remember when I was there last month, I felt like all I was saying over and over again was "do you understand me?" "be careful" "sit down" "don't do that" "that is NOT ok" "5 minutes of quiet"
ReplyDeleteThen of course, I would get tired of speaking Russian, and start speaking English and saying "ANya, I'm begging you, stop jumping on the sofa" or "you are making mommy crazy!" Anya thought it was very funny to repeat whatever I said - which was pretty funny to hear it spit back at me. So I started saying things like "silly girl' and 'hey dude'. SUPER funny to hear her say that - kind of like 'swilly geurl' and 'hey boo'.
