Yesterday I gave a quick post after our first adventerous day of E.S.H, (a.k.a Eagle Seal Hunting), not wanting to report too much on the "N" family - our friends from Wisconsin who had their first court hearing yesterday. I thought it was their place to post details on their blog first, so....
Like us, they were postponed for 10 days, pending receipt of new documents including medicals done here, and some other minor stuff they'll need for the USA. It's consistent with what we were required to get, so, if there is any hope in this, it's that the judge appears to be laying the groundwork for American families, as to exactly what is going to please her. That being so, we are working with the "N" familiy and their facilitator Alex, to get our medicals done at the same places. I think we were all tired and weary yesterday and busy running around, and not really able to sit down and get to know each other, but hopefully when the medicals are done, we can finally do that. We became virtual friends through our adoption journeys, ironically through another friend - Brandi, who had recently brought their son Evan home from Angarsk. They're the family we met up with in Atlanta on our trip over here. She wrote to me 3 years ago when I was preparing to come back to visit Harry, telling me of this family who had a little boy in the same Baby Home, and asking if I could bring some small gifts from them to their son. That's how it started - and here we are three years later, fighting to bring our boys home.
Much like our last hearing (3rd for all of you who are keeping track when we didn't really feel the hostility we felt the previous 2 visits), the "N" family said although they weren't successful, their felt peace in the courtroom. Like us, they felt the many prayers that were being offered on their behalf. For that we are so very grateful, and ask that you continue to pray for both our families as we perserve. Please pray we are able to get the last four Seals by tomorrow so we can appear back in court with everything she has requested, and be granted our adoption. This would give tremendous hope to the "N" family, knowing their medicals are the same! And pray please that the "N" family is able to get all their other paperwork completed and delivered here on time for their hearing.
I have to say the funniest part of yesterday was when we went to one of the many clinics to see if they used the Eagle Seal, and were told they couldn't help us, because, as they asked, "how could we tell you how much to pay?" "We don't have a price for an exam to tell you you are healthy"! Althrighty then! Next....
Skip and I both slept soundly last night, our colds actually a bit better today, and Mike contines to be "cold-free". So now its off for another day at the races! Course there's no cash prize at the end of this race - but rather, a priceless child!
Keep the comments coming...they're inspiring!

Praise God for His peace that passes ALL understanding! Glad you're feeling a bit better. The clinic's price comment was just priceless... :-) We're SO glad that you and and N's can support each other through this. May the Lord continue to encourage you and give you His strength to persevere. For the joy set before us, we will endure this "cross"!
ReplyDeleteMany blessings to you,
Kirsten
It sounds as if the tides may hav started to turn, and the judge actually sounds consistent in her requests, so... maybe good for all....
ReplyDeleteThe "man upstairs" is in charge...
Hi Judy, Mike and Skip,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the quest for the elusive Eagle Seals. I'm sure you guys will be able to track them all down and demonstrate once again that you are willing and able to jump over whatever obstacle the judge puts in your way. Keep up the great work! It's inspiring to see how you make the best of the situation. By the way, I bet you two would kick butt on the real "Amazing Race".
-Marty
As Kristen said, it is the peace that passes all understanding that sustains us all!
ReplyDeleteThe clinic reminds me of when we presented out docs the first time in 2007 - Judge said "I need more documentation"
Lawyer said "on what"
Judge said "on the documents"
Like you said, all righty then!
Remember - if you need some meds, call Tamu Jackson, I am sure she would love to help you.
Hope you get to feeling better - being sick away from home (and away from those really nice soft Kleenex) sucks...sorry, that is the only word I could come up with!
PRAYING FOR YOU GUYS! We have a WHOLE TEAM of people praying for you and the N fam.
sending hugs from Indiana,
-Kathy
Today was good - I'm glad Skip helped bring Brian out of his shell! :)
