We got to the Baby Home today, after taking the trolley and then walking the remaining way. It was about -5F, but average for this time of year. Glad to be inside and out of the cold, we made our way up to Harry's Group. Generally one of us goes into the main room where they play during the day to get him, while the rest of us take all our winter gear off, and find a good place to stack it all. If Irina isn't with us, like today, I am usually the one to get him. Today Mike went. As soon as he peeked his head inside the room, Harry spotted him and came RUNNING. Mike was thrilled...too thrilled I guess to realize the kid was saying "Goo-lot"....meaning, "Outside". We groaned, thinking the caregivers were getting the kids ready to go out, and knowing Harry would insist on playing outside as well. While Mike verified with the caregiver, we started to dress up again, ugh! He came back and said he asked the caregiver "Goo-lot" and she smiled and said "Da". He also said that there were only 4 kids in the playroom, so we assumed the rest were already outside, and Harry was told to wait for us..... Oh well, out we'll go... So while Harry dressed in his thousands of layers, we bundled up, grabbed the camera and then when he was done we headed outside. Harry was so happy he was signing, AND, held out his hand to me saying "Die Roo-koo" meaning "give me your hand". Harry NEVER does this - in fact if you try to hold his hand, he tells you he's a VERY BIG boy!
Anyway, we got outside, round the corner to the play area, and look for his group. Nobody! The bugger scammed us! But, he had fun, we didn't freeze, and in retrospect, we're glad we got to be outside. Unfortunately the batteries in the camera died after the first few shots, but, Mike did manage to get a few good ones..
We're off to Angarsk Hill now - Irina did ask the Head Doctor, but he said there was too much risk Harry would get sick! Yep. Take a kid out of a germ infested building and let him breathe some fresh air for a few days and he's bound to get sick! Go Figure. But, we respect his decision. We will make up for the lost day of visiting next week. We will still visit him Sunday, so it's just tomorrow...Hopefully he won't be upset again that we missed a day - but I guess we'll deal with that on Sunday. He's doing SO much better these days that I think once the caregivers explain to him, that we won't be there tomorrow, but are coming the next day, he'll be fine... Maybe we'll take him outside again to make up for it....
Attached are yesterdays and todays pictures... I always have to shrink the pics to upload them on this snails paced dial-up connection, but if click on them they should show a bigger version. Check out his expressions on the outdoor pictures!

What a nice day and posting, both the story and pictures brought a big smile to my face, kind of like the big grin on Harry's face in them
ReplyDeleteWOW...... Judy you have triplets...the last pic of Mike and Harry and of course Skip blends in well too.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to see your "playground" pix. Although we were last there in the summer, it brings back memories of playing there in the bare dirt with Anicka, watching kids make toys out of trash, and videoing Jane's Sasha as she rode lap after lap on an old trike, a bit like a tiger pacing in its cage. Almost makes me miss the place! Almost...
