We're here...again :)

We had good flights over (I even got to fly Business on the long segment from Atlanta to Moscow) but since they don't allow kids, Mike graciously said I could go and enjoy, and he'd sit in coach with Skip. It was a very light flight with less than 1/3 capacity, so they go to each stretch out on a row of 3 seats, so it worked out well all around. Flight from Moscow to Irkutsk was only 1/2 full and we all got 3 seats again. Much more comfortable for Mike and Skip who slept most of the way. I couldn't, so read, dozing off for about an hour.

Miraculously, the young boy who check us in, in Moscow didn't even pay attention to the fact our bags were REALLY over limit. Our checked luggage was about 20 lbs over and he didn't even blink. He just tagged them through! That should have cost us $100 minimum. Plus, he didn't even ask about carry-ons. We had another 20 lbs at least over limit since we dragged a HP printer with us, among other things. We were so releived not having to shell out $200 - $250 just for baggage!

Our trip with Harry went well. Many of his pals have left. One was adopted by a Russian famiy, one is soon leaving for an orphanage, Egor now lives with his uncle, and my little Leeza was adopted by a family from France. Lots of new, younger faces in his group. His caregiver was SO happy when we arrived. She told us Harry missed us - and asked for us often (more on that later when I'm caught up on sleep). Though he screamed when they tried to make him come meet us, within 5 minutes he was fine, and didn't want to go back to his group at lunch time. He kept sitting on my lap and hugging me, so he wouldn't have to go back.

After Harry's visit it was a trip to the big grocery store, lunch and then we all crashed til 6:30. Ugh, we'll be up half the nite now. I still have to unpack and get organzied, and hopefully by the morning I'll have pictures posted.

Stay tuned..,

  2. Hurray! So glad you're there safely. Merry Christmas! We'll think of and pray for you tomorrow as we eat salmon, Siberian dumplings with sour cream and dill, and blini with Nutella - our own little Russian Christmas tradition! :-)

    Much love,
