Quick update before we leave

sunrise over the Angara River, Irkutsk

Mike stayed up through most of the night, working with the Staff at the EEC,(THANKS Amy & staff!!) and his friend & colleague (Thanks Denis!!) back home, in coordinating the preparation of the documents for the Judge. Turns out the Program numbers she was SO worried about, are just Agency identifying numbers! He also managed to get a copy of the Homestudy Agency's new license. They tried through the night to fax the info to the Judge but this morning we learned that the Courthouse Fax gets shut off at night! It won't be turned back on til 9:00 this a.m. Not to worry though because Amy set the outgoing fax to keep trying until successful! Yippee!

My role last night was giving Skip my undivided attention. We took a walk in the -30F weather, stopped at the little store nearby and bought a $10USD toy that plugs directly into the tv set and has 30 games on it. Basic games, similar to pac-man, Break-out, etc. It works GREAT! We had fun playing those for quite awhile last night. We also did some reading and ate ice cream together. Russian Ice Cream is THE BEST! Skip has been a little trouper, and at times, when he senses something isn't right, he has asked "Should we pray?". Yep, prayer is good!

As a bonus I let him sleep with me on the pull-out sofa, knowing Mike had little chance of getting any sleep. He was up til 3:30, then slept on & off til 7:!5. He's exhausted but I gave him a good breakfast, lots of coffee, and he just got into the shower to perk up!

Of course I didn't sleep well either. Between Skip kicking, the phone calls going out and coming in, the lights on in the living room (where the computer needs to be since that's the only phone line) it was less than great, but, doesn't matter. In fact, I'm thinking the two of us showing up at court semi-comatose isn't necessarily a bad thing...in fact, it might be good!

  1. Yes, perhaps this judge and her antics will be easier to bear in a semi-comatose state. :-) The night of your court dates, I never sleep well either. My soul continues to cry out in prayer even when my mind is attempting to rest... Our hearts are with you guys today/tonight! 5th time's a charm, right? ;-) Please, Lord, let this one be IT!

  2. Hi "Holmescrew"! It's the Wid. I'm so excited for you that I will NOT sleep - only pray. This is really happening! This is really happening! Stepanova's going to say "Congratulations" and we will all break out the champaign and do the happy dance!
I do have a question, though...what the heck are these numbers the judge is referring to?
Love Ya! Can't wait to be ya (a mommy bringing home her child from Irkutsk)!

  3. Yummy...along with Evan's snow, could you bring me some ice-cream? Why can't we get it here that tastes as good as it does in Russia?

We'd love to hear your thoughts as we complete our journey to bring Harry home!
